Clinical notes are kept in a secure, encrypted system

Physical records are stored in a locked cabinet

I never share your information without your explicit consent, except where required by law or professional duty (e.g. safeguarding concerns)

All communication is treated as confidential in line with BACP ethical guidelines


Who I share your information with

I do not share your personal information except:

Clinical supervision: I discuss anonymised cases with my supervisor for professional development (no identifying details are shared)

Legal requirements: If there's a serious risk of harm to you or others, I may need to break confidentiality and contact appropriate services

With your consent: If you ask me to liaise with your GP or another healthcare provider


How long I keep your information

Clinical records: Retained for 7 years after our last session (in line with BACP guidelines)

Contact details: Deleted when no longer needed, unless you remain a client

Website enquiries: Deleted after one week if you don't become a client

You have the right to:

Access the personal information I hold about you

Request corrections to your information

Request deletion of your information (subject to legal requirements)

Withdraw consent at any time

Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how I've handled your data
